Sorry we've been out of touch ladies and gents. It has been a busy month!!
Well... November is here and Chip and I are once again celebrating.... Our 26th Wedding Anniversary is Thursday the 16th of November. Those of you that know us know that we are prone to extravagant displays of gushiness, rapturous sighs, and endless amounts of canoodling! Well this year will no different as far as the romance, but we will be changing the setting a little!
When we first moved to Scotland we did so with the intention of traveling Europe - something that is greatly difficult and even more expensive from California. In June of 2002 we had visions of 30 Countries in 30 Months! but real life intervened and we just haven't seemed to manage.
So... 4 years after we moved to Europe, we are finally getting to see a part of Europe other than our beloved Scotland! The winner for our first romantic trip to the continent... Paris?, Vienna?, Lake Como? No... we decided to start at the most southern tip of Europe - so far south it's practically Africa.... That's right!
MALTA!
Why Malta you ask? Well... 3000 years of history, evidence of every major western civilization, friendly locals, warm weather and beautiful beaches all had something to do with it.
Ryan Air's £1 tickets had a lot more to do with it!!
Yes, that's right £1 - ROUND TRIP!!
So we are off to beautiful Malta for 4 sun-soaked (or possibly rain-soaked as it is the rainy season) days. We will walk in the footsteps of the apostle Paul, visit sites for the ancient Phoenicians, the Romans, the Ottomans and the British. We will snorkel, and ride bikes, and sail and perhaps... if Chip really loves me, rent a horse a carriage for the day!!
I promise an update with pictures when we get back... in the meantime, I am off to celebrate my love and my marriage!
Fun, fun! You have to take a trip to Germany before we leave so you can see how beautiful this country is! I hope you all have a good trip, and a lovely anniversary together. Enjoy!

How fun! Go - celebrate :-) Do ride a horse across a sandy beach for me :-) No walking the horse mind you. You must go really fast :-) But then, you know that already ;-)

Congratulations on the anniversary!
Never been to Malta but would like to. If you haven't read Dorothy Dunnett's "The Disorderly Knights", you should (it's the third book in her Lymond series - read them in order though).
Also, I recently discovered that at the start of WW2 Malta's air defences consisted of three old Gloster Gladiator biplanes called Faith, Hope and Charity. And they successfully prevented the Italians' much more modern aircraft from bombing Valletta until they could be replaced (after several months) with shiny new Hurricanes!

Thanks muchly.
